Another option that is often overlooked is Sopot in Poland. Yes, there is no hot Mediterranean Sea here, but summer holidays are wonderfully cosy. A spacious beach, a long wooden pier, fresh air, and plenty of greenery create an entirely different mood.

Perhaps that is why the best family trips are remembered for far more than the number of stars on a hotel. After a while, it is hard to remember the room rate or the cost of the tickets. But you remember perfectly how excited your child was to find their first shell, how the whole family ate ice cream during a walk, or how you sat by the water for ages because nobody wanted to leave.
